The U.S. Forest Service is planning to set a controlled fire in the Uinta National Forest in Diamond Fork Canyon to reduce wildfire fuels on 250 acres of forest land.

The fire, which will burn about 18 miles southeast of Spanish Fork, near Sheep Creek Road on U.S. 6, will be ignited sometime between todayand April 15.

Forest officials say the purpose of the fire is to stimulate new growth in Aspen trees and reduce the likelihood of a catastrophic wildfire.
