Appeal for Community Archaeology Volunteers

BUDDING archaeologists are being invited to take part in a series of community archaeology weekends.
St Helens council has joined forces with Liverpool Archaeological Field Unit, Sankey Canal Restoration Society, St Helens Historical Society and Merseyside Industrial Heritage Society to organise the events.
The site is the historic Stanley Bank area of Blackbrook. The dig centres around Copperhouse Row, a row of 18th century workers cottages.
The weekends, funded by The Community Learning Chest and Mersey Basin Campaign, are part of a series of investigations which will help shape the development of the area's heritage They take place this weekend and on October 30-31.
