BRYANSK REGION. May 3 (Interfax) – Russian First Vice Premier Sergei Ivanov on Thursday visited a chemical weapons storage and disposal site in the Bryansk region.

The site currently holds 67,000 chemical air bombs containing a total of about 7,500 tons of toxic agents, including sarin (253 tons), saman (2,450 tons) and VX (about 4,500 tons).

A chemical arms disposal plant is due to be built nearby in 2009 to provide for the scrapping of chemical aviation bombs within four years at a rate of 2,000 tons of toxic substances a year.
