MIAMI, May 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Monday, May 7 at 10:45 AM, Margo Pellegrino, a 39-year-old stay-at-home mom, will begin paddling 2,000 miles in her 20 foot outrigger canoe as she officially kicks off her Miami2Maine (http://www.miami2maine.com/) project at the Miami Beach Rowing Club.
Pellegrino will embark on a solo paddling trip up the eastern seaboard to raise awareness about problems related to man's impact on the oceans and coastal zone such as: pollution, development, habitat destruction, overfishing, aquaculture and beach access. Margo will paddle nearly 2,000 miles while making 74 stops along the way. She expects to arrive in Camden, Maine in late July. She hopes that she can show her children how to make a difference in the world and inspire a grassroots movement to take a more active role in the stewardship of our oceans. Margo is being supported by a network of volunteers and ocean groups, including the Surfrider Foundation and the National Environmental Trust's Conserve Our Ocean Legacy Campaign.
