WASHINGTON – Housing and Urban Development has awarded $11,233,493 to four Indian reservations in North Dakota. The grants awarded were part of the Indian Housing Block Grant program.

The reservations receiving funding are:

3 Fort Berthold, $3,461,164

3 Spirit Lake, $2,163,044

3 Trenton, $903,091

3 Standing Rock, $4,706,194

The funds can be used for a variety of affordable housing activities, including operating assistance, new construction, modernization, housing management and crime prevention.

The grant was announced by the state’s congressional delegation.

WASHINGTON -” The Housing and Urban Development agency has awarded $3,870,276 to North Dakota and the city of Fargo.

The grants awarded were the American Dream Downpayment Initiative, the Emergency Shelter Grant and the HOME award.

The North Dakota State Program will receive $63,695 in ADDI funding, $275,512 in ESG funding and $3 million in HOME funding. Fargo was awarded $531,069 in HOME funding.

The congressional delegation announced the grant.

USDA Rural Development announced the award of an Intermediary Re- lending Program loan for $750,000 to the Lewis & Clark Regional Development Council, located in Bismarck.

The funds will help support local economic development agencies, finance infrastructure improvements, establish low-interest revolving loan funds and help jurisdictions implement regional business and community development plans

The funds are being provided through the USDA Rural Development Intermediary Re-lending Program to intermediaries, such as community development or regional planning groups, which then re-lend the funds to local businesses. The loans must be used to start or expand businesses, and create or retain jobs.

The Lewis & Clark Regional Development Council will provide a local revolving loan fund to public and non-profit organizations within the city of Mandan and surrounding area in a 10-mile radius in Morton County. The revolving fund is expected to save and create, initially, 100 jobs.

The North Dakota Dispatch Center recently relocated to Bismarck and will host an open house at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

NDDC is an interagency dispatch center serving the North Dakota Forest Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service and National Park Service.

This center for fire activity in North Dakota coordinates firefighting resources for federal lands and fires that exceed local capabilities.

The dispatch center is at 3425 Miriam Ave., Bismarck.

National Park Week poster contest entries will be on display through May 19 at Knife River Indian Villages Historic Site.

Participants created posters using this year’s theme, “National Parks: Explore, Learn and Protect,” and represented entries are from Centennial Elementary and Grimsrud Elementary in Bismarck. Stanton Elementary also took part.
