King to Deliver Key Address at Nobel Laureates’ Conference
According to “Jordan Times”, King Abdullah will address an audience of Nobel laureates and key world figures and celebrities at the inauguration of “Petra III: Building a Better World.” A total of 44 Nobel winners will attend the two-day conference, including Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General and a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize; Johann Deisenhofer, a Nobel Prize laureate in chemistry; Richard Axel, a Nobel Prize laureate in physiology;Robert Merton, a Nobel Prize laureate in economics; John Maxwell Coetzee, a Nobel Prize laureate in literature and Norman F. Ramsey, a Nobel Prize winner in physics. Participants at the conference, which comes ahead of the May18-20 World Economic Forum, will focus primarily on economic and development issues. The Petra conference, the third in as many years, will seek ways of addressing the challenges faced by young people in the Middle East and the means of enhancing educational opportunities for the region’s youth. Other topics to be discussed at the conference include health, economy and environmental issues, with participants to launch a science fund in support of scientific projects and research in the region.
