By Anonymous
The South Carolina Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society hosted a well-attended symposium entitled “The Future of Renewable Energy in South Carolina,” in Myrtle Beach on January 3. The event drew over 150 participants, including state and federal agency leaders, private citizens, and a host of SWCS members.
The symposium lineup included local and national speakers who explored topics ranging from biodiesel use for agriculture, “green power,” and USDA incentives for use of E-85 and biodiesel. The forum also included perspectives on alternative energy use from farmers who are currently using it. A question and answer forum generated lively discussion.
An exhibit hall featured a number of companies and agencies, and Clemson University taped a radio interview showcasing the symposium and SWCS for playback on the South Carolina Educational Radio Network.
