Examine the Chinese Dairy Market and It's Growth Potential

The industrial profit margin in the first three quarters exceeded 10% and is expected to be 8% for the whole year, higher than last year's level of 5.41%. New investment in 2005 was about 12 billion Yuan, parallel to 2004.

As to import and export of dairy products, on the one hand, dairy products supply on international market declined and price remained high especially New Zealand where export price increased substantially; on the other hand, domestic demand for dairy products was weak while supply was abundant, in addition to Nestle event and Bright event, consumption market was blew, resulting in import decline especially the milk powder and export increase after recovery in last year.

As to consumption of dairy products, generally speaking, per capita consumption volume of urban citizens in over half provinces saw negative growth, decreasing by near 3% all the year round. As to policy perspective, notice of "remade milk" label, released by State Council Office at the end of September, has greatly influenced and will continue influencing domestic dairy development.
