Is ‘Intelligent Design’ Complete Nonsense?

THE Rev Jan Ainsworth’s call for ‘intelligent design’ to be taught in science lessons is misguided and naive.

Creationism and intelligent design were ruled out of science classes simply because they aren’t science, just as we rule outteaching astrology or alchemy.

Intelligent design is not, despite claims to the contrary, another scientific approach to solving the question of origins. It was devised by American evangelical Christians as an assault on the teaching of evolution in schools and to bring creationism into YES science. Scientific theories explain observations. Intelligent design explains nothing.

It is a pseudo-science which dons the mantle of real science to try to persuade people that it is a viable alternative to the fact and theory of Darwinian evolution.

Given the poor design we find in the human body, if intelligent design did, in fact, turn out to be correct, I’d like the so-called intelligent designers to tell me who this unknown intelligence is so that I can sue him/her/it.

AT LEAST one scientist does support creationism. Dr Paul E Blackwood, a specialist in elementary science for the U.S. department of Health, Education and Welfare in Washington DC, stated that after the hot, newborn Earth was formed, gases escaped into the Earth’s atmosphere, condensed into rain and fell back onto the Earth’s hot exterior. They steamed back up again, condensed again and fell back to Earth. This went on for many years until the Earth was surrounded by water.

After the Earth’s exterior had cooled, the water was able to settle on it. In the Old NO

Testament, Genesis 2:6, the Bible says: ‘But there went up a mist from the Earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.’ The Bible says God created the Earth in six days.

The New Testament (2 Peter 3:8) says: ‘But beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.’ God created the Earth in six days of His time 1,000 of our years are one of His days.

Earth was created in 6,000 of our years. The Bible and science can work together if we don’t close our minds.
