Recycling Drives Set in Fayette
The West Virginia Sustainable Communities project and the School Recycling Program are sponsoring a series of recycling drives in Fayette County.
Aluminum cans may be dropped off in the designated area of the schools’ parking lot. Members of the West Virginia Sustainable Communities project will be on hand to accept recyclables and educate the public on the benefits of recycling. The drive will take place from 8 a.m. to noon the third Saturday of each month – Saturday, and July 21 and Aug. 18 – at the following schools:
Divide Elementary; Gatewood Elementary; Meadow Bridge Elementary; Ansted Middle School; Scarbro Elementary; Valley Elementary; Midland Trail High; Fayetteville High; Mount Hope Elementary; Gauley Bridge Elementary; and Oak Hill High.
The West Virginia Sustainable Communities project is a pollution prevention program focusing on energy and water conservation and waste reduction and recycling in Fayette, Nicholas, Braxton and Gilmer counties.
It is a joint effort of the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, Student Conservation Association and Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation.
All money raised will go back into the Fayette County School Recycling Program to help fund the second year of the program. To volunteer, contact Patricia Spangler of the School Recycling Program at (304) 574-3553.
