NPRA, the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association, today announced the addition of Catherine Sulzer to its Washington, D.C. advocacy team as Senior Director, Government Relations. She will be responsible for leading NPRA’s government relations team as it works with Congress and the Administration to advocate for stable, realistic and effective policies that promote both sound and stable domestic refining and petrochemical industries.

“We’re excited to have Catherine join our team during some interesting times here in Washington,” NPRA Executive Vice President Charles T. Drevna said. “With her knowledge of both the regulatory and legislative landscapes as they pertain to our businesses, Catherine will be a leader and a valuable asset to NPRA and its membership.”

Sulzer comes to NPRA from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) where she served as Deputy Associate Administrator for Congressional Affairs. Prior to joining EPA, she served as Deputy Director for Government Relations for the Legal Services Corporation, as a legislative assistant at Baker Botts L.L.P., and as a senior legislative assistant for Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.).

She received her J.D. from George Washington University Law School, and two undergraduate degrees in international relations and economics at American University.

NPRA members include more than 450 companies, including virtually all US refiners and petrochemical manufacturers. Our members supply consumers with a wide variety of products and services used daily in their homes and businesses. These products include gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, lubricants and the chemicals that serve as “building blocks” in making everything from plastics to clothing to medicine to computers.
