Christchurch will be the focus of the evolutionary world over the next five days when close to 1000 top evolutionary and molecular biologists are expected to attend Evolution 2007.
It is the first time the major conference, hosted by the Massey University-based Allan Wilson Centre for Molecular Ecology and Evolution, has been held outside the United States.
International speakers include Oxford University’s Professor Charles Godfray , who will give a public lecture on evolution, natural history and the web at the Christchurch Town Hall at 5pm on Tuesday .
A special symposium is being devoted to the work of Emeritus Professor David Lloyd of Canterbury University, who died in May last year.
