Nature Talks Range From Fish to Coyotes

CHARLESTOWN – A series of Wednesday night nature talks is under way at the Kettle Pond Visitor Center, operated by the Rhode Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex.

The talks will be at 7 p.m. each Wednesday night this summer.

Donations of $5 for adults and $2 for children are suggested to help support the refuges.

The talks and the presenters are:

June 20, “The Most Disgusting Fish in the Sea,” by Prof. Robert Kenney.

June 27, “Bats,” by Prof. Peter August.

July 4, no program.

July 11, “Pond-breeding amphibians,” by Prof. Peter Paton.

July 18, “Bizarre Creatures in Narragansett Bay,” by David Beutel.

July 25, “Eavesdropping on Dolphins,” by dolphin researcher Kathleen Dudzinski.

Aug. 1, “Sea Turtles of New England,” by research associate Malia Schwartz.

Aug. 8, “African Wildlife Photo Safari,” by Wendy Williams, of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

Aug. 15, “The Narragansett Bay Coyote Study,” by Numi Mitchell.

Aug. 22, “Snakes of New England,” Prof. Robert Kenney.
