Bodies of Missing Teens Found in Lake
The bodies of two missing teenagers were found Thursday evening in a lake in Nova Scotia.
About 100 officers from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police joined with local and provincial forces to comb First Lake near Halifax in the third day of the search for Kyle Dowd, 14, and Eric Keizer, 15, The Toronto Globe and Mail reported. The boys were last seen Monday.
RCMP divers found the bodies, said Cpl. Joe Taplin, a police spokesman.
It’s very traumatic for all the searchers today, he said. We were hoping for a positive outcome, but it’s a pretty sad day right now.
Kyle’s sister, Jennifer, told The Chronicle Herald of Halifax that her brother, who could not swim, had told her he planned to go rafting on the lake, near the family home in Lower Sackville. Investigators said they believed the boys had improvised a raft.
By Thursday, a helicopter from the Department of Natural Resources, police dive and dog teams, and a fireboat equipped with an underwater camera were assisting in the search.
The boys had known each other for about three months. Eric lived with his family in Dartmouth just outside Halifax.
