Title: Hazardous Waste Permit Modification Requested

The Department of Energy (DOE)-Savannah River Operations Office has requested from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) modifications to Savannah River Site’s (SRS) 2003 Resource Conservation and Recover Act (RCRA) Permit Renewal, Module IV, Sections B and C. These sections detail the groundwater corrective action requirements for the F-Area and H- Area Hazardous Waste Management Facilities. The proposed modifications request additional time for the current, effective passive groundwater corrective action systems to meet the corrective action goals.

This Class 2 notice begins a 60 day comment period. Copies of the RCRA permit modification are available for review at SCDHEC during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except legal holidays, at the following locations:

A public meeting will be held on Monday, July 16, 3 p.m. at the Aiken County Public Library. Representatives from SRS will be available to answer questions on the modifications. Written Comments may be sent to SCDHEC. All comments will be considered in the final decision.
