Clips Of Star Trek Prequel Revealed

During a London press event, ‘Lost’ creator JJ Abrams unveiled film footage from his upcoming Star Trek prequel.
The film featured Actor Chris Pine portraying a young Captain Kirk, Simon Peg as Scotty the engineer, and Zachary Quinto as Mr. Spock.
One of the four clips showed Leonard Nimoy reprising his role as the older Mr. Spock.
Speaking at London's Vue West End theater Tuesday morning, the filmmaker said he is planning a May 2009 release for the film, which he hopes viewers will find "legitimate and real".
Abrams acknowledged he had "never really been a huge Star Trek fan.”
"It was always someone else's show," he said, citing the limited resources available for the original series.
After reading the script, however, Abrams said he would have been "jealous" had another director been given the project.
He also commended the performance of British actor Pegg, who said he was "pant-wettingly excited" to be in attendance at the event.
"I'm a fully paid-up geek," said Pegg, who also appeared on Shaun of the Dead, adding that he "couldn't put into words" the excitement he felt performing in scenes alongside the Spock character.
The preview began by showing the film’s latest trailer, which included scenes of Kirk and Spock as children and Eric Bana as Romulan villain Nero. Next, Abrams introduced the first excerpt, in which "farm boy" Kirk gets into a bar fight with four Starfleet officers. Doctor Leonard "Bones" McCoy, played by Karl Urban, then smuggles Kirk on board the Starship Enterprise for its maiden voyage.
A third scene showed Pegg's character Montgomery Scott, while a fourth clip from the film’s finale revealed footage rife with special effects.
Other well-known characters appearing in the new film include Hikaru Sulu, played by John Cho, communications officer Uhura, played by Zoe Saldana, and Pavel Chekov, played by Anton Yelchin.
Commander Christopher Pike, captain of the Enterprise, is portrayed by Bruce Greenwood. At one point in the film, Captain Pike is shown urging Kirk to follow his father's example and enlist in Starfleet. Meanwhile, Nimoy's Mr. Spock character is seen delivering the famous Star Trek legend "live long and prosper."
The film is set to be released May 8, 2009 in the U.S. and Britain.
