Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
is headed for a global five-day box-office record but not a five-day U.S. record, box-office analysts said.
The Paramount-DreamWorks sequel to the 2007 blockbuster Transformers
took in an estimated $125.9 million domestically Wednesday through Friday, Daily Variety reported Saturday. It is on track for a five-day domestic opening of more than $190 million, which would fall short of the $203.8 million The Dark Knight
earned during its first five days in 2008.
However, Revenge of the Fallen
-- which grossed an estimated $36.7 million Friday -- is likely to set a global five-day record, Variety said.
Revenge of the Fallen
grossed $60.6 million domestically Wednesday, its first day in theaters -- topping the Wednesday record set in 2007 by Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
by more than $15 million and becoming the second biggest single-day opening ever, behind 2008's The Dark Knight.
