Car Park Plans Blocked
By Dave Robson
SAFETY concerns have blocked plans to extend a Redcar school car park.
Permission was sought for five new car park spaces at Lakes Primary School on West Dyke Road.
Planning officers recommended approval, even though the distance behind the proposed spaces, ranging from 5.6m to 5.9m, was just less than the usual 6m.
Officers felt the reduced distances were acceptable, as the spaces aren’t located on a through road.
But Redcar and Cleveland Council’s planning committee decided there was enough of a safety concern and refused permission.
Committee chairman, Councillor Brian Hogg, said: “Members felt there wasn’t enough space for safe reversing in a school environment.”
