Moon Turns Red

Wednesday night’s lunar eclipse turned the full moon into an eerie shade of red, a phenomenon called a “blood moon.” The eclipse became total about 7:30 p.m. and lasted for about 75 minutes. A lunar eclipse occurs when the sun, Earth and moon are in a single line, with Earth in the middle, so the moon is hidden from the sun’s direct rays.
