Adventist Medical Center announced that the first column of steel in its $105 million building expansion was installed Thursday.

The four-story, 192,000-square-foot structure will combine existing and new outpatient services in a new pavilion.

The pavilion will include a center for cardiovascular services, an expanded emergency department and additional operating rooms.

In addition, the pavilion will designate space for future medical services such as an outpatient surgery center and additional physician office space.

A multi-level parking garage will be constructed adjacent to the new building, providing 403 parking spaces.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2009.
