THE BIRMINGHAM POST: Space for John
September 14, 2007
British astronauts walking on the moon by the 2020s? It seems a tad ambitious since it took 13 years to build a high speed rail link between the Channel Tunnel and London.
But space travel might be just the sort of thing to appeal to Gordon Brown, who is keen to prove that he is a dynamic gogetter rather than a dour Scot with a liking for economic theory.
If Mr Brown follows recommendations from the British National Space Centre, Birmingham has just the man for him. Yardley Lib Dem MP John Hemming was, after all, a candidate some years ago to be Britain’s first man in space. It is not too late for John, surely?
