New Crew Arrives at the Space Station

The Expedition 16 crew has docked its Soyuz TMA-11 with the International Space Station, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration said Friday.
Cmdr. Peggy Whitson and Flight Engineer Yuri Malenchenko docked the spacecraft at 10:50 a.m. EDT Friday. The Expedition 16 crew will spend the next six months on the orbiting laboratory.
Spaceflight participant Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor -- flying on the Soyuz TMA-11 under contract with the Russian Federal Space Agency -- will return to Earth Oct. 21 with Expedition 15 crew members Cmdr. Fyodor Yurchikhin and Flight Engineer Oleg Kotov.
Expedition 15 launched to the station April 7. NASA said two Expedition 17 crew members are expected to arrive next spring to replace Whitson and Malenchenko.
