Dec. 21--Hamilton Sundstrand will hire about 100 people because of its $70 million share of five-year contract with NASA for engineering services at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.
The Windsor Locks-based division of United Technologies Corp. is one of five main subcontractors to a contract issued last week to Tennessee-based Jacobs Sverdrup. It includes work on the Space Shuttle and International Space Station. NASA said the contract has a potential value of $1.15 billion over five years.
Hamilton Sundstrand spokesman Thomas Callaghan said company will double the size of its space, land and sea division in Houston from about 100 to 200 employees. Employment levels in Connecticut will not be affected.
