MOSCOW (AP) -- Russia delayed by 24 hours the launch of a Kosmos-3M rocket poised to lift two Russian and four foreigner satellites into orbit Friday, Russian Space Forces said.
The launch, scheduled for Friday morning at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in Russia's north, was delayed for technical reasons, the Space Forces said, without elaborating.
The ITAR-Tass news agency reported that the start was delayed after concerns arose about the possibility of a problem arising in the rocket's fuel system or in the launch equipment. Experts are now rechecking all the systems, ITAR-Tass said.
The rocket is now scheduled to blast off at 10:12 a.m. (0612 GMT) Saturday, the Space Forces said.
The two Russian satellites will be used by the military for science experiments and to provide radar services. The foreign satellites, being launched for Nigeria, Turkey, Britain and South Korea, are designed for probing and studying the Earth from space.
