The U.S. space agency says it has awarded a contract to the Clauss Construction Co. of Lakeside, Calif., to complete the decontamination of a NASA reactor.
The contract is for preparation of a final status survey of NASA’s Plum Brook Reactor Facility located in Sandusky, Ohio, west of Cleveland. The facility is managed by NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland.
The company is to perform decontamination and radiation protection activities, including the safe packaging, shipment and disposal of all on-site low-level radioactive waste and contaminated soil, NASA said.
NASA said the cost-plus-fixed-fee 30-month contract is valued at more than $33.5 million.
