Jules Verne Raises Iss By Seven Kilometers
MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax-AVN) – The ATV Jules Verne European space freighter adjusted the orbit of the International Space Station (ISS) on Thursday, a source at the Russian mission control center based in Korolyov near Moscow told Interfax-AVN.
“ATV engines operated for 1,206 seconds and raised the ISS by seven kilometers. The station is located at the approximate altitude of 345 kilometers,” he said.
Engines of Russia’s Zvezda module of the ISS were turned on simultaneously in order to orient the station properly.
The ISS orbit will be adjusted three more times by the end of this summer: once in July and twice in August, mission control said.
