Military Satellite Inserted into Target Orbit
BAIKONUR. June 27 (Interfax-AVN) – A Proton-K heavy launch vehicle with a DM-3 upper stage has placed a military satellite launched from the Baikonur spaceport earlier on Friday into the target orbit, head of the Russian Space Forces information and public affairs service Alexei Zolotukhin told Interfax-AVN by phone from Baikonur on Friday.
“Combat units of the Space Forces controlled the launch by means of an automatic ground guidance complex,” Zolotukhin said.
Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, Space Forces Commander Col. Gen. Vladimir Popovkin and other high-ranking military personnel watched the launch at Baikonur.
