MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - Russia's Space Forces have taken control of two of the satellites launched by the Kosmos-3M booster rocket.
The forces reported that the satellites have been in their control since 11:47 a.m. Moscow time on Saturday.
"The Space Forces' main center for testing and controlling objects in space named after Titov assumed control of the Mozhayets- 4 and Larets [satellites]. The four foreign-owned space apparatuses were transferred to the control of the launch commissioners. The satellites separated from the second stage of the booster rocket at 10:46 a.m. as planned. This occurred outside the zone of radio coverage from Russian territory," the press service said.
The Kosmos-3M blasted off at 10:12 a.m. Moscow time from the Plesetsk launch pad carrying six satellites. Besides the two Russian satellites, it lifted foreign micro-satellites: Nigeria's Nigeriasat- 1, Turkey's Bilsat-1, Britain's UK-DMC and South Korea's Kaistsat- 4.
The launch was initially scheduled for Friday but was postponed till Saturday for technical reasons. A military unit with the Space Forces conducted the launch.
