SCHOOL pupils Ben Wilcox, 17, and Caitlin Stronach, 16, get to grips with an astronaut’s suit as they prepare to blast off on a mission to the US space agency, Nasa.

Ben, of Portobello High, and Caitlin, of St Margaret’s Academy in Livingston, are part of a group of 26 pupils from Scottish schools heading for a ten-day trip to Nasa’s Johnson Space Centre in Houston, Texas.

The lucky students have been selected from 3000 young people who are taking part in Careers Scotland’s Space School programme.

Alex Blackwood, of Skills Development Scotland, said: “We hope it inspires them to consider careers in science, technology and engineering.”
