Jazz Singer Mixes in Sounds of the World
By Journal Staff Report
Jazz vocalist Chiara Civello is a woman of varied interests. Civello, a native of Rome, writes her own songs but she also likes to interpret Latin, Italian and Brazilian songs as well as pop music.
She will bring her quartet to the Outpost Performance Space, 210 Yale SE, for a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2.
Civello last performed at the Outpost in 2006, promoting her album “Last Quarter Moon.”
She is touring in support of her recent CD, “The Space Between.” The title, she is quoted as saying, is about “the space between the notes, the silence between words, the space between me and you.” Her quote lists more examples of “space.”
Performing with Civello are percussionist Yusuke Yamamoto, bassist Alan Hampton and guitarist Guilherme Monteiro.
Tickets for Thursday’s concert are $22 and $17 for students and Outpost members and are available at the Outpost, by calling 268- 0044 or at the door.
