September 30, 2008
The U.S. space agency will host the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge to pick “America’s Top Young Scientist.”
The Oct. 5-6 event will be held at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., with 10 middle school students competing for the title and a U.S. Savings Bond. Five teacher finalists will contend for recognition as “America’s Top Science Teacher.”
NASA said the students and their teachers will be challenged to demonstrate their science prowess in a series of team-based, interactive challenges focused on this year’s theme, “The Science of Space.”
The competition is part of the NASA’s 50th anniversary celebration.
