Posted on: Thursday, 2 July 2009, 13:15 CDT
The HST team investigating the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) anomaly presented findings and recommendations to the HST project on June 30 that included a plan to bring the instrument out of suspend mode later this week. It has been off line since June 23 .The HST Servicing Mission Orbital Verification (SMOV) schedule is otherwise progressing well. The HST team successfully performed a number of alignment and focus checks on the Wide Field Camera 3 instrument over the weekend and took an external image with the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph. The Cosmic Origins Spectrograph Far Ultraviolet Detector also completed its high voltage turn-on test and is ready for routine SMOV operations.
