Crews Approved For Iss Expedition 8

BAIKONUR. Oct 17 (Interfax) - A government commission at Baikonur cosmodrome on Friday morning approved the main and standby crews for Expedition 8 to the International Space Station (ISS).
Russian cosmonaut Alexander Kaleri and NASA astronaut Michael Foale constitute the main crew. The commission also approved ESA astronaut Pedro Duque for a 10-day taxi mission to the ISS. The standby crew consists of Russian cosmonaut Valery Tokarev, NASA astronaut William McArthur, and ESA astronaut Andre Kuipers.
Liftoff is scheduled for 9:38 a.m. Moscow time on Saturday. The crew will fly on a Russian Soyuz-TMA spacecraft that will be placed in orbit by a Soyuz-FG launch vehicle.
The crew of Expedition 8 will conduct over 20 experiments, make a series of space walks, and spend 200 days on the ISS. Duque will return to earth with the crew of Expedition 7 on October 28.
