HOUSTON, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ — Oklahomans should prepare their senses to travel millions of miles across the universe when they visit NASA’s Vision for Space Exploration Dome exhibit as part of the Tulsa Home Beautiful Show at the Expo Square in Tulsa, Okla., Sept. 9 – 11.

Once inside this exhibit, visitors will experience a visual journey to the moon and Mars, discovering what it would be like to live and work on these surfaces. The floor-to-wall-to-ceiling video production allows visitors to feel like they are exploring other places in our solar system. The 3-D imagery projects the illusion of stepping on various surfaces of the moon and Mars and then flying to Saturn’s moon, Titan.

This interactive video experience showcases the Vision for Space Exploration: completion of the International Space Station, now in orbit 240 miles above Earth; returning humans to the moon by 2015; and traveling to Mars and beyond in the next 20 years. NASA personnel will also be available at the exhibit to answer visitors’ questions and learn about some of the 30,000 technologies we now use here on Earth as a result of NASA’s 50 years of space related research and development. Cell phones, pacemakers and smoke alarms are only a few items on this vast list of products used in everyday life.

Visitors will learn how their lifestyles of tomorrow will change as NASA continues to develop advancements in power, computing, nanotechnology, biotechnology, communications, networking and robotics. Visitors also will see how emerging technologies will help improve the safety and reduce the costs of future space transportation systems.

The Vision for Space Exploration Dome exhibit will be open to the public during event hours: Friday, Sept. 9, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The dome is wheelchair accessible.
