Russian Rocket to Take Canadian Satellite to Space

MOSCOW. Sept 5 (Interfax) – Russia’s Proton-M launch vehicle with a Briz-M booster is set to take off from Baikonur at 01:53 a.m. Moscow time on Friday. It will be carrying the Canadian Anik F1R communication satellite.
All preparatory operations involving the satellite have been completed, a Monday release of the Federal Space Agency says.
The government commission chaired by head of the Baikonur Federal Space Center Yevgeny Kushnir met at Baikonur on Sunday and decided to transport the Proton-M and satellite to the Proton launcher at pad number 200 and start pre-launch operations on Monday morning.
