Japan Fails in Spy Satellite Launch
November 29, 2003
Tanegashima Space Center, Kagoshima Pref, Nov. 29 (Jiji Press)– The Japanese government launched an H-2A rocket carrying two intelligence satellites from the Tanegashima Space Center in southern Japan at 1:33 p.m. (4:33 a.m.GMT) Saturday but the satellite launch failed due to trouble hitting the rocket later.
The control center issued an order to explode the rocket, judging its mission unachievable.
This was to be Japan’s second spy satellite launch since it placed the first pair into orbit in March.END
