Russia Launches Rocket From Plesetsk Space Center

MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) – The Russian Space Forces successfully launched a Rokot rocket, a light-type intercontinental ballistic missile converted into a space vehicle carrying a European Space Agency CryoSat satellite, from the Plesetsk launching pad at 7:02 p.m. Moscow time Saturday, Space Forces spokesman Alexei Kuznetsov told Interfax.

“According to information from space monitoring devices, the lift- off passed according to plan. A Breeze-KM upper stage device will put the satellite into a pre-calculated orbit. The spacecraft is expected to separate from the upper stage at 8:36 p.m. Moscow time,” Kuznetsov said.
