Esa Satellite Fails to Reach Orbit
October 8, 2005
MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) – It has been impossible so far to orbit the European Union’s CryoSat exploration satellite that blasted off from Russia’s Plesetsk launching pad on Saturday evening, said a source in the Russian space rocket sector.
The flight “has failed to follow the preset cyclogram,” the source told Interfax.
“The situation is being analyzed at the command post of the Space Forces, which launched the Rokot [launcher] rocket,” he said.
The source said the Russian Federal Space Agency and European Space Agency experts were involved in the analysis.
