Russian Launch of US Communications Satellite Postponed By 5 Days

Moscow, 22 November: The launch of the Proton-M space rocket with a Briz-M transfer orbit stage and the US communications satellite AMS-23 (Worldsat-3) has been postponed from 1 to 6 December 2005, says a bulletin posted on the official website of the Russian Space Agency.
"The launch of the Proton-M space rocket with a Briz-M booster transfer orbit stage and the US communications satellite AMS-23 is planned for 6 December 2005 from [launch] pad No 200 of the Baykonur space centre," the bulletin says.

The contract for launch services was concluded by the International Launch Services (ILS) joint venture, which markets heavy carrier rockets Proton (Russia) and Atlas (USA) on world markets.
The ILS is made up of the US corporation Lockheed Martin and its Russian partner, the Khrunichev Centre.
