NASA Awards Utah Company Science Research Grant

December 7, 2005

WASHINGTON, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ — NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, Solar System Division, has selected DOSECC, Inc., of Salt Lake City for a grant to support the agency’s Planetary Geology and Geophysics program. The maximum potential value of the grant is $100,000.

This project will provide an increase in the value of the Chesapeake Bay impact crater drill core. The deep sections of the core provide important information on impact melt production, hydrothermal processes, and the shock effects on the basement.

The research also supports the Vision for Space Exploration, NASA’s long- term plan to return astronauts to the moon and extend exploration to Mars and beyond.
