BAIKONUR. Oct 15 (Interfax-China) - The Russian Space Agency has wished the first Chinese astronaut a successful flight and safe landing.
"We welcome China's first manned flight and wish our Chinese colleagues success and the Chinese astronaut a safe landing. We are aware how difficult this is, since space programs are linked with so many dangers and technical risks. We wish our Chinese colleagues good luck," Rosaviakosmos first deputy head Nikolai Moiseyev said after arriving at the Baikonur cosmodrome on Wednesday.
"We understand the joy this flight has spread in China. This a remarkable, milestone event that fills people's hearts with national pride. The fact that the Chinese space industry has reached this level is a major achievement," Moiseyev said.
He said China is implementing a vigorous space program and its yearly space budget exceeds $2 billion. "This allows them to do research and develop space programs in all promising and priority areas, above all for manned flights," Moiseyev said.
