Cape Canaveral, Fla. — For a second time, the threat of thunderstorms forced NASA on Monday to postpone the launch of a rocket holding the first of two golf-cart-sized rovers destined to examine the surface of Mars for evidence of water.
Monday’s launch was postponed until this afternoon.
Storms and high wind Sunday led NASA to reschedule the flight for Monday afternoon. The weather was expected to improve by today.
The second rover is scheduled for launch later this month, and both vehicles are to arrive at Mars in January.
