Posted on: Sunday, 25 April 2004, 06:00 CDT

MOSCOW. April 25 (Interfax) - The launch of a Zenit rocket carrying a Kosmos series military satellite has been postponed for technical reasons, a spokesman for the Russian Space Forces told Interfax.

The rocket was to be launched at 2:54 p.m., Moscow time, on April 25, from the Baikonur cosmodrome.

A space industry source told Interfax that the rocket will most probably be launched at midnight on April 25.

No details were disclosed about why the rocket had not been launched earlier on Sunday. Experts at the cosmodrome are currently discussing the situation. This was to be the first Zenit launch in 2004 to put a military satellite into orbit.
