Zenit Launch Cancelled Due to Failure of Launch Systems

Posted on: Monday, 26 April 2004, 06:00 CDT

KOROLYOV (Moscow region). April 26 (Interfax) - The launch of the Zenit booster carrying a military-purpose satellite has been cancelled due to the failure of the launch systems, a source in the Russian Space Forces told Interfax on Monday.

"An interdepartmental committee made up of officials from the Federal Space Agency, the Space Forces, and NPO Yuzhnoye (Ukraine) have begun analyzing the reasons for the launch's cancellation," the source said.

"The committee will make a decision on further steps to be made based on the results of its work," the source said.

The launch has been rescheduled three times already. It was initially scheduled for Sunday, April 25, but was rescheduled for Monday night and then for Monday afternoon for technical reasons.
