Posted on: Tuesday, 4 May 2004, 06:00 CDT
NORTHERN Ireland stargazers will be treated to a rare glimpse of the moon turning blood red tonight.
This is the third lunar eclipse in the space of 12 months but for Irish people it could be one of the most spectacular. The eclipse will begin as dusk falls and should be visible between 9pm and 10pm.
Chairman of Astronomy Ireland David Moore said: "This is the first time in three years we will be able to see a lunar eclipse at a reasonable hour."
