Romanian Space Shuttle Project to Participate in New Mexico Competition

Bucharest, 18 May: The Orizont rocket model project created by ARCA (The Romanian Association of Spaceship and Aeronautics) team will participate in a competition in New Mexico along with 27 other teams from seven countries, daily Evenimentul Zilei informs.
The Romanian spaceship is the first reusable single-engine vehicle having a simple structure, a good resistance and low cost. It is 14 meters long, 1.3 in diameter and weighs 7 tons. The shuttle is split in two compartments, and the interior can shelter a three- member crew, the minimal number required.
The competition organized by X-Prize Foundation and US Space Commercialisation Department from New Mexico, will bestow a 10 million dollar prize on the winner of the private commercial space shuttle project.
