AWED OF THE RINGS ; Saturn Spectacular

THIS is Saturn in all its glory – in the most detailed pictures ever of the ringed planet.

They were taken by Nasa’s Cassini probe after a seven-year, 2.2billion-mile trip.

Scientists hope to find out what the planet – 764 times bigger than ours – its seven rings and 31 known moons are made of.

The EUR2.7billion mission will see Cassini circle Saturn 76 times in four years.

Nasa’s Charles Elachi said: “It feels good to be in orbit around the Lord of the Rings.”
