TWO Co Armagh teenagers are poised to take 'one giant leap' on their way to possible careers as astronauts.
Armagh College students Roisin O'Reilly and Fergal McCool have 'no problem' about heading to Houston, Texas, to take part in the prestigious Space School programme at Johnson Space Centre.
The Cathedral City students will be joining young people from 40 different countries for "an experience of a lifetime", during which they will visit the NASA headquarters and receive tuition from some the world's leading experts in space travel, including US astronauts. "Armagh College is particularly proud of its association with NASA and the Summer Space School. We are delighted this year again to be sending two very successful young students to participate," said college director Paul Little.
"This programme represents an opportunity of a lifetime for them. It will also assist them in their future career choices."
One of the Houston-bound duo, Roisin O'Reilly, said: "I am delighted to have been chosen to attend the Space School - it will be such an experience for me.
"It will give me the opportunity to identify what career path I will choose and also give me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world."
Both Orchard County students are understandably 'over the Moon' at the prospect of the trip and can't wait to begin their space odyssey.
