Moscow, 15 September: The launch of the 10th main crew on a Soyuz spacecraft to the International Space Station may be delayed for five to 10 days, Federal Space Agency spokesman Vyacheslav Davidenko told an ITAR-TASS correspondent today.
"The change in the Soyuz TMA-5 launch date is linked to technical faults of the docking system," he said.
[ITAR-TASS at 0844 gmt quoted the head of the department of electromechanical and large-scale space constructions, Vladimir Syromyatnikov, as saying that a pyrobolt had exploded for unknown reasons and that a great amount of work needed to be done to reach the faulty system. The start was scheduled for 9 October, and the crew comprises Russia's Salizhan Sharipov, NASA's Leroy Chiao as well as a short-term visitor, Lt-Col Yuriy Shargin of the Russian Space Troops, the agency recalled.]
