China recovered its 19th sci-tech experimental satellite Saturday, 27 days after the satellite orbited in space.

The satellite was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center Aug. 29 in northwest China’s Gansu Province, reported Xinhua, China’s main government-run news agency.

The Xi’an Satellite Monitor and Control Center said the satellite was an improvement technologically compared to China’s earlier recoverable satellites.

Officials said the satellite was mainly for space research, land surveying, mapping and other scientific experiments.

China launched its first recoverable satellite in 1975.
